Manifold Editions launches debut exhibition at St Martins Lane
Announcing the return of Marc Quinn’s Sphinx as a new series of prints in gold and silver leaf
New contemporary online gallery and art publishing experts Manifold Editions will present their first public exhibition at Front Room in St Martins Lane, Central London from 10 May 2012. Brand-new prints by Marc Quinn and Damien Hirst will hang alongside work by established artists from Manifold Editions’ stable, including Gary Hume, Elizabeth Magill and 2011 Turner Prize nominee George Shaw.
To celebrate Manifold Editions’ exhibition at Front Room, Marc Quinn’s Sphinx in gold and silver leaf will be available exclusively from the Front Room space. From 11th May these unique prints will also be available to buy from www.manifoldeditions.com.
A unique collaboration, Manifold Editions at Front Room invites the public to view the artworks in person until 27 May, which are usually only viewable online at www.manifoldeditions.com.
Manifold Editions will launch a brand new commission, Sphinx by Marc Quinn, two intricately detailed silkscreen prints, in gold and silver leaf, of the well-known sculpture of supermodel Kate Moss. In April 2006 Marc Quinn revealed sculptures depicting a woman of unearthly beauty, but with her limbs contorted in an extreme yoga pose.
Taking a three-dimensional image of the sculpture, and working directly with the artist, Manifold Editions has produced silkscreen prints in two editions of 150 – one surrounded by gold leaf, the other by silver leaf. The transformation to a two-dimensional plane emphasizes the hieratic quality of the sculptural pose, recalling the multi-armed Shiva, Hindu goddess of destruction.

Manifold Editions in Front Room at St Martins Lane is open Monday – Friday from 11am-7pm and 12 – 6pm Saturday and Sunday. Admission is free.
