Gallerist and entrepreneur Pearl Lam is confirmed to speak at the FT’s Business of Art Summit 2023 in London this October.
An icon and entrepreneur of the contemporary art world, Lam will be building on her mission to make art a more inclusive field in a panel discussing ‘Adjusting to a more inclusive art market and changing the consumer base’.
“I have been a gallerist and curator for over 20 years – and those 20 years have been, arguably the most significant in our history for cultural exchange, and the diversification of the buyer.
I have travelled all over the world from Asia to Africa, to South America and I am always fascinated by what I find – communities and cultures that make beautiful art away from the mainstream eyes. Art has no passport, no borders, it transcends generations, and it is our duty as an industry to ensure all voices are seen and heard.” Pearl Lam.
Along with other distinguished peers, Pearl Lam will discuss the current shift in buying patterns, and the noticeable upward trajectory in the use of digital and social. The timely discussion will address key demographics, and how this is evolving to include a younger consumer. The panel, shared by experts from Christies and Art Tactic will investigate which territories are excelling, and which are not, in ensuring art can be enjoyed by a broader spectrum of people and addressing the needs of a new population.
