From 24th – 26th May 2013, Chateau Les Carrasses will host the first RockArtWine festival (RAW), a unique three day event showcasing the work of several of the world’s most revered rock photographers alongside the best of Languedoc winemaking.

Guests will get the opportunity to take in a superb exhibition of rare signed fine art album covers and rock photography prints curated by gallerists Off Beat Lounge and the artists themselves.  Between them Aubrey Powell, Nick Elliott, Michael Spencer Jones, Dieter Zill and Denis O’Regan have shot the entire pantheon of Rock royalty over five decades, ensuring the breadth of the collection on display will be second to none.  Every decade will be covered: from the iconic sleeve art of Pink Floyd in the sixties and Bowie in the seventies, through the glamour of the eighties, and the energy of the Brit Pop era, every Rock generation has been captured by these legends of the camera.

Over the weekend each artist will host a guided viewing of their work, sharing the often outrageous stories of a life spent capturing both the iconic and behind the scenes moments of the Rock legends.  A number of previously unseen and rare pieces will be on display, with some interesting acquisition opportunities likely to present themselves.  On Saturday night each of the artists will host a table for dinner at Les Carrasses, sharing stories about the inspiration behind the pieces and be ready to answer questions about the art and artists captured.

Guests of RAW will also get to meet some of the best winemakers in the Languedoc, and have the opportunity to discover a wide range of regional wines with tastings, demos, visits and other wine related events taking place.

After the exhibitions have been taken in, Friday and Saturday night will be laid back affairs, with live music and DJs and a variety of other events taking place and during the day guests will be able to relax by the pool and enjoy the inevitable sunny skies. Numbers are being strictly limited to preserve the intimate atmosphere.

RAW takes place in the chic surroundings of Château les Carrasses in the heart of the Languedoc, which opened to universal acclaim in July 2011. The laid back vibe at Les Carrasses makes it the perfect setting for the event. Residential guests can stay in one of the 28 chic suites, apartments or houses, each of which has been fashioned from the original buildings of the estate and which sleep from 2 to 8 people.  Superb facilities include bar, brasserie, outdoor dining terrace with views over the surrounding countryside, magnificent pool and sun deck, floodlit clay tennis court, boulodrome and barbecue area.

The Languedoc is an ancient and unspoilt region of blue skies and dramatic landscapes nestled along a 300 kilometre stretch of golden beaches from the Côte d’Azur to the Spanish border. The area basks in a perfect Mediterranean climate with over 300 days of sunshine annually and is easy to reach with six international airports (Toulouse, Montpellier, Carcassonne, Béziers, Perpignan, and Nimes). For those who can’t get enough art, RAW has been tabled to coincide with – ‘ImageSingulières’, France’s most important photography festival, now entering its 5th year, which takes place in the coastal town of Sète, around  an hour from Les Carrasses.
