Following Nika Neelova’s recent debut auction success at Christie’s, CHARLIE SMITH london is pleased to present a viewing at the gallery for one day only.
Neelova’s monumental installation Partings was commissioned to exhibit at Somerset House alongside Anthony Caro, Tracey Emin, Antony Gormley, Yinka Shonibare, Gillian Wearing and others. Subsequently auctioned at Christie’s, Neelova’s piece reached almost doubled its estimate, selling to one of the UK’s most respected collectors.
For this unique viewing, CHARLIE SMITH london will present a piece from Neelova’s flag series; a selection of recent ink drawings; and the artist’s first edition Partings, a scaled down version of the original installation, and made in the same material of reclaimed timber with cast doors.
Russian born Nika Neelova graduated with her MFA from Slade School of Art in London in 2010. Since then she has had solo shows at CHARLIE SMITH london and Jarmuschek+Partner; exhibited at Volta Basel and The Future Can Wait; won Saatchi’s New Sensations and been placed in collections internationally including The Saatchi Gallery, David Roberts and Museum Biedermann.
